Just a quick update on Monk Mode progress and other things...
First week of Monk Mode was absolute hell. But that is perfectly normal when you're in process of growth, spiritually, mentally, physically, business wise, etc. My mind conquered these nuances and I was able to keep going. Currently I'm on week 3 and going strong.
It has been a month of losing many things, business opportunities, gigs, lots of pressure to do things right. I lost a lot by keeping my word and loyalty to a specific group I work for, but in the end, we learn. But I think the biggest lesson here is to actually follow my true destiny and focus on my strengths. Sometimes I insist on being something that I'm not anymore, or that is not my priority anymore. Life has a way of getting that message through.
I would say that 10 years ago, I wanted to be the #1 option as a pianist for local groups and artists, but quickly I saw how all the opportunities and trust went to someone else. It's not a matter of being good or bad, excellent or mediocre. There is a moment when "luck" plays a key factor... but eventually I understood that there is a destiny to be fulfilled.
I might be a pianist, but my destiny is in business, my strength is to collaborate, network and create opportunities from nothing. And if you ask me, I think that's way cooler and meaningful than to play just another gig with the same people in the same places. Having said that, this may be my last year in the live performing business, I think that I've reached the most I could with my talents and efforts and it's time to aspire for greater things.
The key to success is to focus on your strengths, recognize and accept your true calling in this life and drive towards it. If you don't do it, you'll keep stumbling upon the same problems -and people- over and over.
